Tammy Forbes is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with the state of Virginia. Tammy resides in Virginia Beach where she has lived for most of her life. Tammy received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regent University. She is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA).
Her theoretical preference is person-centered therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Areas of interest include trauma and mood disorders. She believes in the importance of building strong rapport and therapeutic relationship in order to gain the optimal results in therapy. She is empathetic and non-judgmental toward issues brought into therapy. She utilizes therapeutic homework to enhance effectiveness of the therapeutic process and attainment of desired goals.
Tammy has experience working with crisis intervention, stabilization, and prevention with those who have intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as mental health symptoms at Western Tidewater Community Services Board. She has experience working with those with mood disorders and trauma.
