Lauren Dorsey is a board-certified Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She treats adults at our West End office. She uses a collaborative approach to develop a holistic, personalized treatment plan for each client. Lauren received both her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Master’s degree as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Virginia.
Before joining LifeStance Health, Lauren worked on the adult inpatient psychiatry units at VCU Health. As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, she trained in a community mental health setting and an outpatient practice serving children, adolescents, and adults. Lauren provides LGBTQ+ competent and affirming care, and has educated healthcare providers regionally on best practices for inclusive care.
Lauren’s clinical focus includes mood disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder, as well as anxiety disorders, schizoaffective disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. She works to understand the root cause of symptoms to determine the best course of treatment. Lauren believes medication management is just one part of successful psychiatric care, and also encourages therapy, self-care, and the development of coping strategies as important components in achieving well-being.
In her spare time, Lauren enjoys gardening, cooking, spending time with family, and exploring all that Richmond has to offer.
