Provider type: Psychologist
Dr. Beth McGraw is a licensed clinical psychologist who joined the West End office of LifeStance Health in October of 2012. She is a graduate of James Madison University and the University of South Carolina, where she earned her PhD in Clinical-Community Psychology in 2006.
She is a cognitive-behavioral psychologist who places importance on providing effective, empirically supported treatments that fit the individual needs of each patient. Although she has been trained to work with people of all ages, her primary focus is on working collaboratively with individuals, age 18 and up, to meet mental health goals and reduce distress in their lives. She has experience treating a broad range of mental health diagnoses including mood disorders and anxiety disorders. In addition to her clinical experience, she has received further specialized training in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (related to both sexual trauma and combat).
Dr. McGraw’s most recent practical clinical experience was in the military mental health setting. As a Captain in the United States Air Force, she completed a rigorous internship in general clinical psychology at Malcolm Grow Medical Center, Andrews AFB, MD, and then worked for three years as a Staff Psychologist at David Grant Medical Center, Travis, AFB, California. In her military mental health positions, she worked with military personnel and their families in outpatient, inpatient, emergency, workplace, and community settings addressing the full range of mental health conditions and community mental health concerns.
While she has a deep interest in continuing to treat those affected by military issues, she looks forward to working with all adults who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives.
