Dr. Nowak specializes in providing comprehensive psychological and educational assessments for children, adolescents, and young adults. She administers psychological testing for diagnosing specific concerns such as ADHD, mood disorders, learning disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder (including the ADOS-2). As a former teacher, she is able to provide recommendations for effective strategies, interventions, and accommodations for students with disabilities in the classroom setting that can be easily implemented in an IEP or 504 plan.
Dr. Nowak also has a passion for working collaboratively with parents when they are having trouble understanding their child or teen with emotional or behavioral difficulties. She provides targeted consultations with parents to give them a path forward. Her consultation process involves an intake meeting with the parents, sessions with the child/teen, and then a feedback session to discuss the individualized, written action plan of how they can help their son or daughter. Dr. Nowak practices in the Midlothian office.
